More than paper and board

KAPAG Karton + Papier AG

KAPAG Karton + Papier AG is a family-owned Swiss company, founded in Muhen in 1852. KAPAG originally produced mill board and then chipboard. At the turn of the millennium the decision was made to cease board production and instead specialise in producing, coating and finishing multiply paper and paperboard.

Leading producer of multiply paper and paperboard

Today, KAPAG owns and operates a dozen production and finishing machines, some of which were developed and built in-house. Thanks to its two- to six-ply lamination capacity of around 20 000 tonnes annually KAPAG is the leading multiply paper and paperboard manufacturer in Europe. In addition to convertors and printers, the majority of renowned paper mills make use of our broad range of products and services.

Broad range of products and services

KAPAG can produce or convert materials from very low weights (from 45g/m2) through to 5 millimetres thick and processed widths range from 25 millimetres up to almost 2.5 metres. Applications are diverse, from premium packaging for luxury goods and high-end graphics to uses in logistics and industry.

Trusting business relationships

Our managing owner, Alexander Meyer, runs the financially sound company with vison and an enthusiasm for innovation and investment. Integrity, competency, reliability and service-oriented action are at the heart of our relationships with customers, suppliers and other business partners.

Pre-laminated paperboard – unique and efficient

What is it that KAPAG does exactly? This is a question frequently asked of us but one that’s not that easy to answer.

KAPAG is neither a paper mill nor a convertor of packaging. We source a plethora of base papers from throughout Europe which we then laminate to produce bespoke products. Our customers can determine both the selection of raw papers and the thickness of the final product.

By using pre-laminated paperboard our customer benefit two-fold: they gain more efficient in-house production processes as well as being able to offer their clients a completely unique product.
